New Balance Launches Shohei Ohtani Footwear Collection

New Balance released "The Ohtani Pack" this week, a four-model footwear collection developed in collaboration with Los Angeles Dodgers player Shohei Ohtani. This collection is engineered to support Ohtani's dual role as a pitcher and hitter, covering performance on the field, training, and recovery.

The pack includes the Ohtani Energy Metal, a baseball spike designed with direct input from Ohtani. It features a 10-spike configuration positioned closer to the ground for enhanced stability across various on-field movements, from pitching to fielding. This model incorporates a high-rebound FuelCell midsole for energy return during dynamic actions. The Ohtani Energy Trainer adapts this performance focus for turf surfaces, featuring a durable upper and the same FuelCell cushioning, but with a multi-directional traction outsole instead of spikes.

Beyond performance footwear, the pack also includes the New Balance Minimus Training v2, designed for gym agility, and the Shohei x NB RCVRY Slide, intended for post-game recovery. All four models share a unified white, blue, and red colorway and feature a custom Ohtani logo created by manga artist Takehiko Inoue. The Ohtani Energy Metal is priced at $159.99 USD, the Ohtani Energy Trainer at $119.99 USD, and the Minimus Training v2 at $134.99 USD. The collection is available now through New Balance.
