Netflix now requires every user profile to be tied to unique email address

Netflix began requiring each user profile on an account to be linked to a unique email address starting this week, a change that has prompted confusion and inconvenience for some users. Previously, individuals could access Netflix through an "add-on member" profile on a household's primary account without needing their own distinct login credentials. However, the streaming service is now prompting users to "Add an email address to your profile" to continue using these shared profiles. This policy shift necessitates that each profile owner create their own login, effectively requiring a separate email for each individual profile under a subscription. While setting up a profile for his father, one user was also prompted to provide a first and last name, though this was not a mandatory step for account creation. This new requirement means that shared Netflix accounts will need to manage multiple individual logins, each associated with a unique email address, to maintain access for all users.
