Neil the Elephant Seal Returns to Sea in Tasmania

Neil, a five-year-old, one-tonne southern elephant seal, has returned to the sea after spending several weeks at his usual haul-out spot in southern Tasmania. The seal's presence had attracted significant attention, with his "beachside antics" garnering millions of views on social media and causing traffic disruptions in the rural area. Premier Jeremy Rockliff of Tasmania commented that the "traffic cones and street signs of Tasmania can breathe a small sigh of relief" following Neil's departure. This marks the seal's return to the sea, at least temporarily, after his extended stay on land.
