NBA Coach Tiago Splitter Bound for the Chicago Bulls—Less Than a Year After Snapping Up $3.3 Million Home in Portland

Tiago Splitter is reportedly set to sign a new contract as head coach with the Chicago Bulls, according to ESPN reports on June 15. Splitter, who previously served as interim head coach for the Portland Trail Blazers following Chauncey Billups' arrest in October 2025, was one of four finalists interviewed by the Bulls' leadership. Other candidates included Micah Nori, Ryan Schmidt, and Wes Unseld Jr. The Bulls reportedly selected Splitter for his strengths in player development, organizational vision, and coaching experience. Splitter's coaching career began with the Brooklyn Nets and Houston Rockets before joining the Trail Blazers as an assistant coach in June 2025. His transition to interim head coach occurred shortly after Billups' arrest. This move comes less than a year after Splitter and his wife, Fernanda Splitter, purchased a $3.3 million home near Portland in August 2025. Splitter, originally from Brazil, joined the NBA in 2010 as a player for the San Antonio Spurs, also playing for the Atlanta Hawks and Philadelphia 76ers before retiring in 2018.
