NBA 2K27 Covers Feature Wembanyama, Clark, Rose

2K revealed on an unspecified date that Victor Wembanyama, Caitlin Clark, and Derrick Rose will be the cover athletes for NBA 2K27, each appearing on a distinct edition of the game. The game is scheduled for a worldwide release on September 4 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Victor Wembanyama, the San Antonio Spurs center and NBA's first unanimous Defensive Player of the Year, will be featured on the Standard Edition. Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever guard and 2024 Kia WNBA Rookie of the Year, headlines the Deluxe Edition. This marks the first time a WNBA player will be the sole global cover athlete in the franchise's history. Derrick Rose, the youngest MVP in league history and a three-time NBA All-Star, will be celebrated on the limited-time Ultra Edition. Rose previously graced the cover of NBA 2K13 over a decade ago. The selection of these three athletes aims to represent the present and recent past of the NBA while highlighting the growing prominence of women's basketball on a global scale. Zak Armitage, SVP and GM, stated that the three-athlete structure allows 2K to convey a narrative of obsession and drive, connecting the diverse achievements of a shot-blocking phenom, a groundbreaking guard, and a comeback-defining former MVP. The content and features of each edition will scale in accordance with their respective cover stars, with the Standard Edition focusing solely on Wembanyama and the Deluxe Edition, tied to Clark, including additional bundled content.
