Naturopathic Accreditor Gets Reprieve

The Council on Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME) received a reprieve from the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI) on June 24, 2026, regarding its federal recognition. NACIQI had previously recommended stripping CNME of its recognition in March 2026 due to compliance concerns. However, the Department of Education (ED) is now granting CNME additional time to address these issues. This decision allows CNME to continue its accreditation activities while working to meet the required standards. The specific compliance concerns that led to the initial recommendation were not detailed in the report, but the extension signifies an opportunity for CNME to demonstrate necessary improvements. The outcome of this review will impact the accreditation of naturopathic medical programs across the United States.
