Naruto Live-Action Movie Seeks Global Actors for Lead Roles

Lionsgate has officially launched a global casting search for its upcoming live-action "Naruto" movie, aiming to find actors to portray the central characters of Team 7: Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and Sakura Haruno. This initiative marks a significant step in the production of the film adaptation of Masashi Kishimoto's renowned manga series. The studio is seeking talent worldwide to embody these beloved characters, with further casting for supporting roles expected to be announced at a later date.

Destin Daniel Cretton, known for directing Marvel's "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings," is attached to direct the "Naruto" film. The project is being produced by Avi Arad and Ari Arad of Arad Productions, alongside Cretton himself. Kishimoto, the creator of the "Naruto" manga, will serve as an executive producer. The "Naruto" manga, which originally ran from 1999 to 2014, follows the story of Naruto Uzumaki, a young ninja who seeks recognition from his peers and dreams of becoming the Hokage, the leader of his village.

The live-action adaptation has been in development for several years, with Lionsgate acquiring the rights in 2015. The announcement of the global casting search signals renewed momentum for the project. The "Naruto" franchise has achieved immense global popularity, with its manga selling over 250 million copies worldwide and spawning a highly successful anime series, films, video games, and merchandise. The live-action film is expected to draw upon this extensive existing fanbase.
