YouTubers Disrupt Nancy Guthrie Abduction Investigation

Six months after Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie, was abducted from her Arizona home, true-crime enthusiasts have significantly disrupted the ongoing investigation. Court documents obtained by Fox News reveal that authorities have issued warnings and charged three men with misdemeanors near the Catalina Foothills search area due to the influx of internet sleuths. The presence of these individuals has become so intense that one content creator allegedly transformed a roadside area near the site into a full livestreaming setup, complete with traffic cones, a tripod, and a "pee tent."

Authorities have identified Alexander Zabel Jr., also known online as "CriminalNetwork," as one of the individuals charged. According to a Pima County Sheriff’s Department citation, Zabel faces charges of obstructing a public thoroughfare and public nuisance. Police first encountered Zabel on May 26, sitting in a lawn chair and blocking a road with traffic cones to shield his livestreaming equipment. A subsequent probable cause statement from June 6 details Zabel allegedly setting up a "pee tent" in the area, which deputies deemed created an offensive environment due to its "sensitivity & proximity to the high-profile address."

Zabel has pleaded not guilty to the two misdemeanor charges, which are listed as criminal offenses, and has a hearing scheduled for July 2. The Pima County Sheriff's Department has emphasized the disruption caused by these individuals, highlighting the challenges they pose to the sensitive investigation.
