Murciélago Anime Adaptation Confirmed for 2027

The cult-favorite crime action manga MURCIÉLAGO is officially set to receive its long-awaited anime adaptation in 2027. The announcement was made during Anime Expo, accompanied by the release of a teaser video showcasing the series' violent and stylish crime action. The manga, which has sold over 2.3 million copies worldwide, centers on former death-row inmate Kuroko Koumori, now a government executioner, and her partner Hinako Tozakura as they tackle societal darkness with unrestrained violence and style.

Production of the anime is being overseen by chief director Takashi Naoya and director Matsuo Asami. The animation itself is a joint effort between Satelight and Staple Entertainment. The debut teaser trailer, lasting 50 seconds, provides a rapid and visually striking preview of the series' signature lethal action and dark humor. It quickly introduces the two main characters: Kuroko Koumori, a former serial killer turned state-sanctioned executioner, and her partner Hinako Tozakura, a seemingly naive girl with legendary driving skills.

The confirmation of the anime adaptation follows a period where discussions about its production were not publicly shared. The original manga's creator, Kana Yoshimura, expressed relief and excitement about the announcement, indicating a long period of anticipation for this development. The series is known for its mature themes and graphic content, which the teaser suggests will be faithfully translated to the animated format.
