Mubi to Publish Lost ‘Faust’ Bible on Centenary of F.W. Murnau’s Silent Cinema Classic (EXCLUSIVE)

Mubi will publish "The Faust Bible: The Making of F.W. Murnau’s Masterpiece" on November 10, 2024, coinciding with the centenary of F.W. Murnau's silent film "Faust." This publication by Mubi Editions, in partnership with la Cinémathèque française, will include previously lost material related to the production of the 1926 film. The book aims to offer an in-depth look at the creation of Murnau's cinematic adaptation of the classic German legend. Mubi, an arthouse film distributor and streamer since 2007, expanded into publishing in 2015. La Cinémathèque française, a French institution dedicated to the preservation and exhibition of film heritage, has been instrumental in uncovering and preserving cinematic artifacts. The "Faust Bible" is expected to provide new insights for film historians and enthusiasts of silent cinema, detailing the artistic and technical challenges faced during the filming of "Faust." The book's release marks a significant event for film preservation and scholarship, bringing to light a wealth of information previously inaccessible to the public.
