At the time of the filing, Quality Fresca operated 38 Moe's Southwest Grill locations, a substantial decrease from its 69 stores in 2021, reflecting a trend of closing underperforming outlets. Should the court approve the lease terminations, Quality Fresca would be left with 22 operational stores. The parent company of Moe's Southwest Grill, GoTo Foods, has stated it is not impacted by this bankruptcy filing. The Moe's Southwest Grill chain itself maintains approximately 541 locations across the United States, according to its official store locator.

In its court documents, Quality Fresca attributed its financial distress to a combination of "industry headwinds, increased costs, and declining revenue." The company detailed that a significant reduction in customer foot traffic directly led to diminished revenue streams. Concurrently, escalating expenses for food and shipping, coupled with challenges in labor availability, have exacerbated cash flow problems. The franchisee's strategy moving forward involves closing its unprofitable outlets and either restructuring its operations around the remaining profitable stores or facilitating their sale through a court-supervised process. The specific locations slated for closure include fourteen restaurants within Florida, one in Alexandria, Virginia, and one in Brunswick, Georgia. Court documents indicate that the effective date for the rejection of these leases is August 4 for all affected sites. Several of these locations have reportedly ceased operations within the past week and are no longer featured on the Moe's Southwest Grill website, with at least 10 now marked as permanently closed on Google Maps.
