Microsoft Xbox Converts Physical Games to Digital Licenses

Microsoft officially announced a new disc-to-digital feature for Xbox One and Xbox Series X consoles that allows players to convert their physical game collections into digital licenses. This initiative, which began initial testing with Xbox Insiders on August 31, enables users to insert a supported physical game disc into their console to claim a digital entitlement. The program launches with support for thousands of titles, representing a significant move towards game preservation and adapting the Xbox ecosystem for future hardware changes. By converting physical games to digital licenses, players can access modern features such as Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox Cloud Gaming, ensuring continued access to their purchased games even as physical media distribution methods evolve.
