Microsoft Enables Windows Settings Backup for Organizations

Microsoft announced that the Windows settings backup and restore tool will be enabled by default for enterprise systems that are Microsoft Entra-joined or Microsoft Entra hybrid-joined. This change will take effect after these systems upgrade to Windows 11, version 26H2. The feature aims to simplify device management and improve user experience by preserving personalized settings across devices.

Previously, this backup functionality required manual activation by IT administrators. By making it the default setting for managed enterprise environments, Microsoft intends to streamline the onboarding process for new devices and facilitate smoother transitions for employees when they receive new hardware.
