Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 Debuts with 680 HP at Goodwood

Mercedes-AMG unveiled its new CLA 45 4MATIC+ model at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this past weekend. The performance sedan features a potent hybrid powertrain delivering a combined output of 680 horsepower. This significant power figure is achieved through a combination of a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and three axial-flux electric motors.

The advanced electric drive system includes one motor integrated into the rear axle and two smaller motors on the front axle. This setup enables precise torque vectoring and enhances the vehicle's all-wheel-drive capabilities. The CLA 45 4MATIC+ also incorporates a 2-speed transmission for the rear electric motor, allowing for optimized performance across a wider speed range. The vehicle's acceleration capabilities are highlighted by its ability to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.6 seconds.

Formula 1 driver Kimi Antonelli was present at the event, driving the new CLA 45 4MATIC+ up the famous Goodwood hill.
