Man City second offer for Anderson worth £120m rejected

Nottingham Forest rejected a second offer from Manchester City for midfielder Elliot Anderson, reportedly worth £120 million, on May 21, 2024. Anderson has expressed a preference for a move to Manchester City over Manchester United, should a transfer agreement be reached with Nottingham Forest. The midfielder's current contract with Nottingham Forest is set to expire in the summer of 2026. Manchester City's initial offer was reportedly £100 million, which was also turned down by the club. The club is seeking to retain Anderson, who has become a key player in their midfield lineup. Anderson joined Nottingham Forest from Newcastle United in the summer of 2023 for a fee of £15 million. He has since made 35 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 4 goals and providing 7 assists. His performances have attracted attention from several top Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Chelsea. Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper stated on May 19, 2024, that the club has no intention of selling Anderson and is looking to build their team around him for the future. The club is reportedly in negotiations with Anderson over a new contract, which would see his wages significantly increased and his release clause raised to £150 million.
