Man attacked by alligator in swamp while fleeing police in Louisiana

A 40-year-old man was attacked by an alligator in a Louisiana swamp on June 9, 2026, while attempting to evade police. The suspect, who was charged with driving while impaired, fled law enforcement by jumping into the swamp. Body-worn camera footage captured the alligator swimming rapidly towards the man and engaging with him in the water. The man was eventually apprehended by authorities and sustained injuries to both of his arms as a result of the encounter.
