Lindsey Buckingham Stalker Case Suspended for Mental Exam

The criminal case against Michelle Dick, accused of stalking Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, has been suspended pending a mental health examination. Dick appeared in court this week, where her public defender requested the evaluation. The judge granted the request, ordering the examination to determine Dick's competency to stand trial and her mental state at the time of the alleged offenses.

Dick was arrested in February 2024 after allegedly violating a restraining order obtained by Buckingham. Court documents filed at the time indicated that Dick had repeatedly shown up at Buckingham's Los Angeles home and had been seen driving past his residence multiple times. The restraining order, initially issued in 2022, was extended after Buckingham claimed Dick had continued to harass him and his family.

Buckingham had expressed concerns for his safety and that of his wife, Kristen, and their children. The initial restraining order was granted after Dick allegedly sent Buckingham numerous emails and letters, some of which were described as disturbing. The legal proceedings have been ongoing since her arrest, with this latest development marking a significant shift in the case's trajectory.

The suspension of the criminal proceedings means that Dick will remain under court supervision while undergoing the mental health evaluation. The results of this examination will be crucial in determining the next steps for the case, including whether it will proceed to trial or be resolved through other means. No new court dates have been set pending the completion of the evaluation.
