Levi’s and JOURNAL STANDARD relume Launch Rigid Denim Collection

Levi's and JOURNAL STANDARD relume have launched a special edition rigid denim collection in Japan, reintroducing iconic denim silhouettes with vintage specifications and custom branding. The capsule includes the Levi’s x JOURNAL STANDARD relume TYPE 1 and TYPE 2 Rigid Trucker Jackets, as well as the 501 Selvedge Rigid Jeans, inspired by the 1947 model. Pre-orders for the collection are currently available through the Journal Standard online store, with official retail releases scheduled to begin on August 7, 2026.

The TYPE 1 Rigid Trucker Jacket in this collaboration emphasizes classic construction. It features a single front pocket without flaps, distinctive box stitching, and a five-button closure. A notable detail is the exclusive rainbow stitching, adding a unique visual element. For sizes 2XL and larger, the jacket incorporates a vintage-style "T-back" split back design, a characteristic found in older denim garments. This design choice aims to replicate the authentic feel and construction of early Levi's jackets.

Building upon the evolution of the original trucker jacket, the TYPE 2 Rigid Trucker Jacket introduces symmetrical dual chest pockets and a balanced, boxy silhouette. This model utilizes lightweight fabric on the underside of the pocket flaps, a subtle yet functional detail. Similar to the TYPE 1 jacket, larger sizes (2XL and above) also feature the "T-back" construction, ensuring consistency in the vintage-inspired design across the range. The combination of these elements provides a nod to the historical development of denim outerwear.

The 501 Selvedge Rigid Jeans complete the collection, drawing direct inspiration from the archival 1947 Levi's 501 model. These jeans are distinguished by an extended 20cm side stitch running from the pocket to the hem, a detail that enhances their unique aesthetic. Inside the coin pocket, red selvedge detailing is visible, a hallmark of high-quality denim construction. The jeans also feature V-stitch construction next to the top button and single stitching along the waistband, all contributing to their authentic, vintage appeal. The use of all-yellow stitching throughout the collection is intended to age naturally and develop a patina over time, complementing the rigid denim's wear.

This collaboration between Levi's, a globally recognized denim manufacturer with a long history dating back to 1853, and JOURNAL STANDARD relume, a Japanese retailer known for its curated selection of vintage-inspired and contemporary fashion, aims to offer denim enthusiasts a collection that combines heritage craftsmanship with modern sensibilities. The rigid denim used in the collection is designed to be worn and broken in, allowing each piece to develop a personalized character over time, reflecting the wearer's lifestyle.
