Tom Hiddleston Guides Viewers Through Pompeii's Final Day

Actor Tom Hiddleston is set to guide viewers through the final day of Pompeii in National Geographic's new three-part docuseries, "Pompeii: Out of Time." The series aims to bring the ancient Roman city to life, focusing on the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 CE that buried Pompeii and Herculaneum under volcanic ash and rock.

The involvement of Hiddleston in the project stemmed from his role in the Disney+ series "Loki," where a scene depicted his character, Loki, traveling through time to visit Pompeii. Executive producer Kevin Wright, who also worked on "Loki," recognized Hiddleston's passion for storytelling and his prior connection to Pompeii, having visited the archaeological site as a teenager and studied classics at Cambridge University. Wright expressed that Hiddleston's infectious storytelling style could engage audiences who might not typically watch a documentary about Pompeii.

"Pompeii: Out of Time" will feature Hiddleston in the role of a "time detective," offering a unique perspective on the historical event. The docuseries is expected to delve into the human stories and daily lives of Pompeii's inhabitants leading up to and during the eruption.
