LEGO and F1 Debut 22 Drivable Brick Cars for British GP

LEGO and Formula 1 unveiled 22 fully drivable minicars for the 2026 Formula 1 Pirelli British Grand Prix Drivers Parade at Silverstone. Each minicar is constructed from over 28,000 LEGO bricks and can reach speeds of up to 25 km/h, representing a significant expansion from the ten-car build at the previous year's Miami Grand Prix. These vehicles are designed to be functional, allowing drivers to pilot them around the circuit.

Each minicar weighs approximately 280kg, with 65kg attributed to the LEGO bricks themselves. The underlying structure utilizes standard go-kart wheels and a chassis to ensure drivability, while the brick-built shells provide the distinctive visual appearance. This approach transforms the parade from a static display into an interactive experience where drivers can actively control the vehicles.

The design process involved a team of 20 designers, engineers, and builders who collectively logged 6,400 hours at the LEGO Group's Kladno factory in the Czech Republic. The minicars are meticulously styled to match their respective teams' 2026 liveries, incorporating team emblems, colorways, and driver numbers directly into the brick construction. This attention to detail ensures each car is an authentic representation of its Formula 1 counterpart.

Achieving this level of livery accuracy required the design and engineering teams to address challenges related to both structural integrity and surface fidelity across 22 distinct color schemes. The project highlights a substantial collaborative effort between LEGO and Formula 1 to create a unique and engaging spectacle for fans.
