Leeds United in Talks for Man City Goalkeeper Trafford

Leeds United has entered into discussions with Manchester City regarding the potential transfer of goalkeeper James Trafford. The Championship club is reportedly looking to secure the services of the 21-year-old English goalkeeper as part of their squad strengthening efforts for the upcoming season.

Trafford, who came through Manchester City's academy, has spent the current season on loan at fellow Championship side Bolton Wanderers. During his spell at Bolton, he has made 46 appearances across all competitions, keeping 22 clean sheets. His performances have attracted attention from several clubs, with Leeds United now emerging as a strong suitor.

Manchester City acquired Trafford in 2019 and he signed a new contract with the club in July 2022, extending his stay until June 2027. Despite his contract, he has yet to make a senior appearance for the Premier League champions. His development has been prioritized through loan spells, first at Accrington Stanley and then at Bolton Wanderers.

Leeds United, managed by Daniel Farke, are seeking to improve their goalkeeping options. The club finished the regular Championship season in third place and will compete in the play-offs for promotion to the Premier League. The potential acquisition of Trafford would represent a significant investment in the goalkeeping position, signalling the club's ambitions.
