Lee Chang-dong to Receive Lifetime Achievement Honor at Malaysia’s MIFFest

South Korean filmmaker Lee Chang-dong will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 9th Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest), as announced on Tuesday in Kuala Lumpur. The festival is scheduled to run from July 18 to July 25, showcasing a total of 65 films. These films represent 35 countries and regions and will be presented in 27 different languages. The program includes two world premieres and one international premiere, highlighting diverse cinematic works. Lee Chang-dong, known for his critically acclaimed films such as "Burning" (2018) and "Poetry" (2010), will be honored for his significant contributions to cinema. MIFFest aims to foster cultural exchange and celebrate filmmaking talent from around the globe. The festival will also feature masterclasses and panel discussions with participating filmmakers and industry professionals. This year's edition marks a significant expansion in its international reach, with a record number of submissions received.
