LeBron James is officially joining the Philadelphia 76ers on a two-year, $8-million USD contract, marking the start of his record-extending 24th NBA season. This move concludes his eight-year tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers. James announced the signing on social media, stating it represents his "last decision" and expressing his ambition to compete for another championship. He conveyed his belief that he can contribute to transforming the 76ers into a title-contending team and energize a new fan base for his final journey in the league.

The four-time champion joins Philadelphia after completing his 22nd All-Star season. In his last season with the Lakers, James averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists, and 1.2 steals over 60 regular-season games. His performance in the playoffs saw an increase to 23.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 7.3 assists across 10 games. This departure from the Lakers follows their Western Conference semifinals sweep by the Oklahoma City Thunder, after which James informed the team's leadership of his intention to explore new opportunities.
