Kurono Tokyo Launches Saxe Blue Calendrier Watch

Independent Japanese watch brand Kurono Tokyo has announced the release of its Calendrier Small Batch Release (SBR) timepiece, featuring a distinctive glossy saxe blue dial. This new model is an off-calendar watch conceived by master watchmaker Hajime Asaoka, drawing inspiration from his personal creative vision and a particular fondness for the saxe blue color. The Small Batch Releases are characterized by their intentionally lower production quantities, often utilizing unallocated components and movements to create unique, limited-edition pieces. The Calendrier SBR revisits Asaoka's earlier triple-calendar concept, which was previously introduced in a salmon pink iteration, to bring his long-held vision for a saxe blue dial to fruition. A key distinguishing feature of the Calendrier SBR is its applied Arabic indices. These indices are not produced through traditional stamping methods but are instead crafted using electroforming. This advanced technique allows for the creation of sharper, more intricate shapes, resulting in a pronounced and striking contrast between the luminous chrome indices and the deep saxe blue of the dial. The watch incorporates a triple calendar complication, which enables the display of the day, date, and month. This functionality is driven by the reliable Miyota 9122 automatic movement, known for its robustness and a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. The case of the watch is constructed from stainless steel, measuring 38 mm in diameter and a slim 10 mm in thickness. It is complemented by a calf leather strap, a sapphire box crystal for enhanced durability and clarity, and offers water resistance up to 5 ATM, ensuring a blend of aesthetic appeal and practical usability. The Calendrier SBR is scheduled for an exclusive online release on September 24, 2026, at 11 p.m. JST. The timepiece will be available for purchase at a price of $2,380 USD. Following the purchase, deliveries are anticipated to commence in late October 2026. Prior to the official launch, Kurono Tokyo plans to host preview events at its salons located in Aoyama and Shanghai, providing watch enthusiasts with an opportunity to experience the new model firsthand.
