Kith and BMW Unveil Two One-of-One X5 Builds

Kith and BMW have unveiled two distinct, one-of-one BMW X5 models as part of their ongoing partnership's fourth chapter. These builds represent a conceptual link between the German automaker's automotive past and future, with a particular focus on celebrating the legacy of its first Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV).

The first vehicle is a meticulously restored 2000 BMW X5 E53, the first generation of the model. The restoration process, undertaken by Kith and BMW, spanned over a year and involved a comprehensive rotisserie restoration. This bespoke E53 retains its original Titanium Silver Metallic exterior paint. Underneath its hood, a significant powertrain conversion has been implemented, featuring a custom-integrated 5.0-liter S85 V10 engine. This engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. While the factory all-wheel-drive system remains, the performance is substantially upgraded through a custom exhaust system, BMW M Sport brakes, and a recalibrated suspension. The interior of this restored X5 has been fully customized, upholstered in black leather with an all-over Kith monogram embossing. Collaborative branding is also integrated into the instrument cluster.

The second vehicle is the all-new 2027 BMW X5, which introduces the fifth generation of the model and signifies the first entirely new X5 body design to debut in over eight years. This contemporary SAV is designed with a minimalist, monolithic aesthetic, characterized by uninterrupted exterior surfaces that eliminate visible seals and door handles. It features distinctive double-X headlights and an illuminated kidney grille. The 2027 X5 is powered by an updated inline six-cylinder B58 engine, which is complemented by a 48V mild hybrid system. This modern iteration pays homage to its predecessor through an exclusive Frozen Titanium Silver paint finish, mirroring the color scheme of the restored E53.

These two distinct builds follow closely after Kith's 15th-anniversary restoration project and the release of the Chapter IV apparel and accessories collection. The collaboration between Kith, a lifestyle brand founded by Ronnie Fieg, and BMW highlights Fieg's design influence applied across different eras of BMW's engineering and design evolution. The Chapter IV collection itself comprised a wide array of apparel and accessories, further underscoring the breadth of the Kith and BMW partnership.
