Sophia Laforteza to Rejoin Katseye in January

Sophia Laforteza, a member of the K-pop group Katseye, is scheduled to rejoin the ensemble in January 2025. This return follows a period of absence during which Laforteza has been prioritizing her mental health. Consequently, she will not participate in the North American leg of Katseye's "Wildworld Tour," which is set to take place this fall. The "Wildworld Tour" marks Katseye's first-ever global tour, commencing in North America and subsequently extending to other regions. The group's agency, BIGHIT MUSIC, confirmed Laforteza's planned return in a statement released on October 25, 2024. The agency emphasized that Laforteza's well-being is the primary concern and that the decision for her temporary hiatus was made in consultation with the artist herself. BIGHIT MUSIC assured fans that Laforteza is receiving ample support to focus on her recovery and that the agency will continue to monitor her progress closely. The statement also conveyed Laforteza's personal message to her fans, expressing her gratitude for their understanding and unwavering support during this time. She conveyed her eagerness to reunite with the other Katseye members and perform for her fans once she has fully recovered. Katseye, a six-member group formed through HYBE's global audition program "The Debut: Dream Academy," debuted on August 23, 2024, with their single album "Debut." The group consists of members from various nationalities, including the Philippines, USA, Brazil, and Czech Republic, reflecting HYBE's strategy of globalizing K-pop. The "Wildworld Tour" is a significant milestone for the newly debuted group, aiming to establish their presence in the international music market. The tour's North American dates are scheduled to begin in November 2024. The absence of Laforteza from these initial dates is a notable development for the group's promotional activities and fan engagement strategies. BIGHIT MUSIC has indicated that the remaining five members will proceed with the North American tour dates as planned, delivering performances that showcase Katseye's talent and artistry. The agency has also stated that they will provide updates regarding Laforteza's return and any potential adjustments to the tour schedule if necessary. The focus remains on ensuring a healthy and sustainable career for all members of Katseye, aligning with industry trends that increasingly prioritize artist well-being. The "Wildworld Tour" is expected to cover major cities across North America, with specific venue and date details being released by the group's management. Fans have responded with messages of support for Laforteza across social media platforms, expressing their understanding and anticipation for her return to the stage. The situation highlights the growing awareness and importance of mental health support within the demanding entertainment industry, particularly for global music acts like Katseye.
