Baldoni Couple Addresses Blake Lively Legal Battle After Settlement

Justin Baldoni and his wife, Emily, have publicly addressed the "trauma" stemming from their protracted legal dispute with actress Blake Lively. The couple shared their experiences in an emotional Instagram video, marking their first public statement since settling the core of the legal battle. The lawsuit originated in 2024 when Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment during the filming of "It Ends with Us." Baldoni denied these allegations and filed a $400 million counter-suit for defamation and breach of contract against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, her publicist Leslie Sloane, and Sloane’s PR firm. A judge dismissed Baldoni's counter-suit, and Lively's sexual harassment claims were also thrown out. However, Lively was permitted to pursue allegations of retaliation against Baldoni, his production company, and his publicity team.

Days before this retaliation case was scheduled to go to trial in May 2026, Lively and Baldoni reached a private settlement. Despite this agreement, the dispute continued as Lively sought $8 million in legal fees from Baldoni, a claim that remains ongoing. The Baldonis stated in their video that their silence throughout the proceedings was due to not feeling it was the "right time" to speak. They noted that they have not spoken publicly for "the better part of the last two years." The video appears to have been filmed at their home in Nashville, Tennessee, where they relocated months prior, seeking a "fresh start" after leaving California. This move occurred approximately a year before their public statement, signaling a significant life change as they navigated the legal aftermath.
