Jeep’s off-road EV goes on sale for $67,000, but its range is a bit disappointing

Jeep released the 2026 Jeep Recon EV for sale this week, with a starting price of $67,000. The electric SUV's estimated driving range is 270 miles (434.5 km) on a full charge, which falls below the 300-mile (482.8 km) benchmark many consumers expect for EVs in this price bracket. The Recon EV is built on Stellantis's STLA Large platform, designed to support electric powertrains and offer robust off-road capabilities. Jeep has highlighted the vehicle's ability to tackle challenging terrain, featuring a Selec-Terrain traction management system, electronic locking differentials, and a disconnecting front sway bar, similar to its internal combustion engine counterparts. The interior is designed for outdoor use, with removable doors and a Sky One-Touch power top. The Recon EV is expected to compete with other off-road-focused electric vehicles like the Rivian R1S and the upcoming electric Ford Bronco. Deliveries are slated to begin in the fourth quarter of 2024.
