Ian Callum Reimagines Jaguar XJ220 and XJ220-C

Legendary designer Ian Callum, who spent nearly two decades shaping Jaguar's design language, has revealed his contemporary reimagining of the iconic XJ220 sports car. Callum's vision extends to both the road-going XJ220 and its more potent racing counterpart, the XJ220-C.
Callum's studio, based in Warwick, UK, has produced detailed renderings and a clay model of the updated XJ220. The design aims to capture the spirit of the original while incorporating modern aesthetics and engineering principles. Specific details about powertrain or performance upgrades were not disclosed in the initial announcement, but the visual proposals suggest a sleek, aerodynamic evolution of the 1990s supercar.
The original Jaguar XJ220, launched in 1992, was a groundbreaking vehicle for its time, featuring a twin-turbocharged V6 engine and achieving a top speed of 212.3 mph, making it the fastest production car in the world upon its release. The XJ220-C variant was developed for racing and achieved a class win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1993. Callum's involvement with Jaguar spanned from 1999 to 2019, during which he was instrumental in the design of models such as the DB9, Vanquish, F-Type, and I-Pace.
