Mother Decries Police Failures in Teen Trafficking Case

Robyn Cory, the mother of Kristen Galvan, a 15-year-old from Houston who was sex trafficked and murdered, has publicly stated that law enforcement failed her daughter on two critical occasions. The first failure occurred when authorities allegedly did not protect Kristen after she provided forensic interviews detailing her traffickers. The second, and perhaps more profound, failure involved a delay of over six years in identifying her remains, a process that was finally completed using advanced DNA testing.

The Texas attorney general's office announced on July 28 that Kristen's remains had been positively identified. This breakthrough followed a year-long investigation involving advanced DNA analysis. The remains, consisting of parts of her skull, along with clothing and an earring, were discovered in June 2024 beneath a bridge adjacent to a jogging trail in Missouri City, a suburb approximately 10 miles outside of Houston. The discovery of these remains marked the end of a long and agonizing wait for Kristen's family, who had been searching for answers since her disappearance.

Cory expressed her deep anguish and frustration, stating, "It didn’t need to end this way." She believes that the system designed to protect vulnerable individuals, particularly minors involved in sex trafficking, proved inadequate in Kristen's case.
