Is Netanyahu’s Trump card losing its power in Israel?

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's long-standing assertion of possessing unique and unparalleled influence over United States policy is currently undergoing significant scrutiny. This growing doubt is directly linked to increasingly strained relations between the United States and Israel, a situation exacerbated by recent political developments and significant policy disagreements, particularly concerning the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

For many years, Netanyahu has strategically leveraged his close relationships with successive US administrations, most notably the administration of President Donald Trump (2017-2021), to cultivate an image of having a direct and potent line to American decision-makers. This narrative has served as a cornerstone of his political strategy, both within Israel and on the international stage, projecting an ability to effectively navigate complex diplomatic challenges through personal connections and influence.
