Instagram is allowing users to add captions to individual slides. Here’s how it works

Instagram introduced the ability for users to add individual captions to each slide within a carousel post, beginning Thursday morning. Previously, carousel posts only supported a single caption visible at the bottom of the entire post, requiring users to manually add text to images or explain slide content in the main caption. Meta Platforms, the parent company of Instagram, stated this update simplifies the process by allowing distinct captions to appear as users swipe through the carousel. To utilize this feature, users will find a drop-down menu in the final posting step, offering the choice between a single caption or multiple individual captions for each slide. This enhancement is expected to benefit businesses by allowing them to highlight specific products or provide detailed recommendations, and it also improves accessibility for users of assistive technologies by providing a more consistent narrative flow. The feature, which underwent successful testing on select accounts last month, is now available to all users and follows Instagram's recent update enabling users to rearrange their profile grids.
