The company has been actively working for the past five years to prevent these types of bookings, instead guiding users towards alternative accommodations like private rooms or hotel stays. This reservation-screening system has been deployed for significant events throughout the year, including the start of the FIFA World Cup 2026. Roger Kaiser, vice president of fraud and safety operations at Airbnb, stated in a press release that the company has prepared for the World Cup by expanding support capacity, strengthening law enforcement partnerships, and providing resources to ensure a positive experience for guests, hosts, and host cities.
