Ikea, the Swedish multinational conglomerate renowned for its flat-pack furniture and home accessories, has partnered with Xbox, the video game brand owned by Microsoft, to launch a novel nine-item collection named Yxstaby. This collaboration is specifically curated for the burgeoning segment of the population that integrates gaming into their daily lives, moving beyond the traditional perception of gaming as a solitary basement activity. The Yxstaby collection aims to seamlessly blend gaming aesthetics with functional home furnishings, acknowledging that people now play games across all rooms of their homes, on various devices, and in diverse postures.

The design philosophy behind Yxstaby is deeply rooted in the iconic Xbox controller. Several pieces directly translate the controller's distinctive features into tangible home goods. For instance, a mint green pillow is shaped like the directional arrows found on the controller's D-pad, offering a subtle nod to navigation. Another item, a faceted metal dish, draws inspiration from the rounded buttons characteristic of the special Elite Series controllers, providing a stylish receptacle for small items. Perhaps the most striking piece is a compact stool, designed to resemble a giant version of the Xbox controller's thumbstick. This stool features a rounded bottom, allowing it to pivot in multiple directions, mirroring the tactile experience of using a thumbstick during gameplay. This stand also incorporates ample storage for consoles, their associated peripheral cords, and other gaming devices.
