HYKE Debuts Menswear for SS27, Blending Military Codes

HYKE unveiled its Spring/Summer 2027 collection, marking a significant expansion with the debut of its first full menswear line, presented alongside its latest womenswear. This collection, designed by Hideaki Yoshihara and Yukiko Ode, continues the brand's established exploration of modernized vintage uniforms and utilitarian workwear. The menswear line was engineered distinctly, not simply upsized from womenswear, ensuring cohesive thematic elements while maintaining unique tailoring and fits for each gender. Both collections share a thematic foundation rooted in military and workwear codes, reinterpreted through contemporary design sensibilities.

The SS27 range balances sharp, elegant tailoring with voluminous drapes and utilitarian outerwear, incorporating delicate sheer layering. The color palette for the season is refined, featuring dark blue, navy, indigo, black, and beige. Key outerwear pieces are directly inspired by mid-century military equipment, including PERTEX® M-65 field jackets, M-48 fishtail parkas, and spring flight blousons. These flight jackets draw inspiration from USAF CWU-36/P, CWU-106/P, and L-2A silhouettes, showcasing a deep dive into archival military designs. Modern interpretations of tailoring are evident in slit-sleeve double-breasted blazers and lapelless jackets. These are styled with ankle-cropped wool-mohair trousers and wide-leg M-51 Arctic-inspired drawstring pants, blending classic military functionality with contemporary fashion.

Light layering options include US Navy utility shirts, gradient-striped Basque sweaters, and sheer knits. These are paired with heavy Tilden sweaters and sheer pleated skirts, offering a juxtaposition of textures and styles. The collection is further enhanced by several key collaborations that expand HYKE's design language and product offerings. A notable partnership is with the British heritage brand Baracuta, which has reimagined the iconic G9 jacket and the British Army Desert Storm Coat. These pieces are crafted in high-density "Baracuta Cloth" and lined with a custom beige and black Fraser Tartan, a pattern that also appears across shirting and dresses within the collection. This collaboration underscores HYKE's commitment to integrating heritage craftsmanship with its modern aesthetic.
