Global Support Group Aids Survivors of Drug-Facilitated Rape

An international support group for survivors of drug-facilitated rape has seen hundreds of individuals come forward since its launch, with around 80 participants from the UK.
Zoe Watts and Amanda Stanhope, both survivors of repeated assaults by partners while unconscious, established the network to provide support for victims of this specific form of sexual violence. The group aims to offer a safe space for individuals who have experienced similar traumatic events.
Watts and Stanhope are advocating for stricter legislation to prevent the online distribution of images and videos depicting sexual assaults and rape. Their call for legal reform highlights the ongoing issue of perpetrators sharing such content, exacerbating the harm to survivors.
The initiative underscores a growing awareness and need for dedicated resources for victims of drug-facilitated rape, a crime often characterized by the perpetrator being known to the victim and the victim being incapacitated.
