Hublot and Jeff Koons Launch Two Radical Art Timepieces

Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot has announced a significant collaboration with contemporary artist Jeff Koons, integrating his distinctive artistic vision into two limited-edition timepieces. This partnership aims to merge Koons' celebrated sculptural language with Hublot's expertise in high horology, reflecting a shared philosophy of transforming tension into harmony and material into meaning. The collaboration introduces two distinct models: the Classic Fusion Balloon Dog by Jeff Koons and the MP-14 Origin by Jeff Koons Sapphire Titanium. The Classic Fusion Balloon Dog by Jeff Koons is a reimagining of Hublot's Classic Fusion design, drawing inspiration from the artist's iconic "Celebration" series sculptures, particularly his "Balloon Dog" works. To capture the essence of an inflated balloon, the 42mm case, bezel, dial, and sapphire crystal have been meticulously re-engineered with convex, "puffed" forms, achieved through advanced 5-axis CNC milling. This model features unique design elements such as a rubber-molded crown resembling a balloon's inflation valve, a flexible rubber "dog tail" detail at the 10:30 position, 3D Super-LumiNova indices, and a seconds hand with a miniature Balloon Dog counterweight. It is powered by the automatic HUB1710 calibre, which incorporates a custom rounded tungsten rotor. This edition is strictly limited to 200 pieces for each of its three color variations: mirror-polished stainless steel, red anodized aluminum, and blue anodized aluminum, with a retail price of $25,100 USD. The second timepiece, the MP-14 Origin by Jeff Koons Sapphire Titanium, represents a more experimental and avant-garde approach to high horology, conceptualized as a "mechanical art laboratory" inspired by the cosmic origins of time. This model is encased in a 44mm octagonal transparent sapphire box, a complex construction that requires over 534 hours of machining to produce. The MP-14 Origin showcases Hublot's first automatic central tourbillon movement, a significant technical achievement that is fully visible through the sapphire case. The design emphasizes transparency and mechanical complexity, allowing the intricate workings of the tourbillon and other complications to be admired from all angles. This collaboration underscores Hublot's ongoing commitment to pushing the boundaries of watchmaking by integrating artistic innovation with cutting-edge technical capabilities, offering collectors unique pieces that transcend traditional horological definitions.
