Toki Whisky Creates Soccer Lounge at Hypebeast Cup NYC
Toki Suntory Whisky established a distinctive "Hi-Fi Lounge" at the Hypebeast Cup pop-up event in New York City on Thursday, June 25. The activation transformed a typical tournament space into a community hub that blended elements of a listening lounge, retail destination, and social gathering spot. This approach aimed to encourage longer stays and deeper engagement from attendees.
The brand's presence was central to the lounge's atmosphere, highlighted by its cocktail program and a display of a limited-edition Toki Whisky Soccer Jersey. Inspired by Tokyo's urban landscape, craftsmanship, and streetwear aesthetics, the jersey proved to be a popular item, with 100 attendees receiving one. The display remained accessible to visitors throughout the pop-up's duration.
The event also served as a viewing party for Japan's final group-stage match against Sweden in the soccer tournament, which concluded in a 1-1 draw. This live match viewing added a layer of excitement and tension, reinforcing the Japanese-inspired theme of the evening. Music was provided by DJ JP Solis, who curated a vinyl-focused set that complemented the various zones within the lounge, including relaxation areas, simulators, retail displays, and viewing sections.
The culinary and beverage offerings further enhanced the Japanese-inspired theme. The signature Toki Highball, a mix of Toki whisky, soda water, and grapefruit peel, was a popular choice. Non-alcoholic options included the Yuzu Citrus Spritz and Ginger Lychee Mule. Small plates featured Tuna Tataki on nori crisps, Beef Yakitori skewers, and Miso-Glazed Eggplant over crispy rice, providing classic Japanese flavors.
