Air Canada Aeroplan Cardholders Get 15% Award Flight Discount

Primary cardholders of the Chase Air Canada Aeroplan® Credit Card are now eligible for a minimum 15% discount on eligible Air Canada flight rewards, a benefit that was enhanced following the card's September refresh. This new savings perk applies to the Aeroplan points required for award bookings and can be combined with Aeroplan's Priority Rewards, which are offered as Milestone Benefits to elite members. Air Canada's Aeroplan loyalty program is recognized as a strong option for U.S. travelers within the Star Alliance network, due to its extensive list of partner airlines, transfer partners, and competitive award pricing. The recent enhancement makes booking flights on Air Canada itself even more cost-effective for cardholders.

The 15% discount is applied to the base fare of eligible award flights booked on Air Canada or its subsidiaries, Air Canada Express and Air Canada Rouge. For instance, an award flight that would typically cost a non-cardholder 100,000 Aeroplan points would be priced at a maximum of 85,000 points for an eligible primary cardholder. To qualify for this discount, individuals must be the primary cardholder; authorized users are not eligible for the savings. The cardholder's Aeroplan account must be linked to their credit card, and bookings must be made directly through Air Canada's website, mobile application, or by contacting their call center. The discount is contingent on at least one flight segment within the itinerary being operated by Air Canada or its subsidiaries. Bookings composed entirely of flights operated by partner airlines will not receive this discount. Importantly, the 15% reduction applies only to the Aeroplan points portion of the base fare. Ancillary charges such as taxes, fees, and other surcharges remain unaffected. Similarly, the cash component of points-plus-cash bookings, travel insurance, trip cancellation insurance, purchases made from third-party partners, and Air Canada's voluntary carbon offset program are not subject to the discount. This benefit aims to provide tangible value to frequent flyers who utilize the Aeroplan program and hold the co-branded credit card, encouraging further engagement with Air Canada's services.
