Honor’s Magic V6 sets three foldable firsts

Honor launched the Magic V6 foldable smartphone this week, touting it as the thinnest foldable device with the largest battery and the best water resistance in its class. However, independent reviews suggest that only the battery improvement is substantial, with the thinness and water resistance offering only marginal gains over previous models. The device features a 5,000 mAh battery, which Honor claims is the largest in a foldable phone, and boasts IPX8 water resistance, a rating typically found on flagship slab phones. Despite these specifications, the practical impact of these advancements on user experience is debated, with some reviewers noting that the overall design remains similar to its predecessor, the Magic V5. The Magic V6 also incorporates a new hinge mechanism designed to reduce the crease on the inner display, a common issue with foldable devices. Honor has not yet announced a global release date for the Magic V6, with initial availability expected in China.
