Hong Kong Palace Museum Hosts "VIRTUOSE" Haute Couture Showcase

The Hong Kong Palace Museum served as the venue for "VIRTUOSE: The Artistry of Couture 2026" yesterday, marking the official opening of the third annual Hong Kong Fashion Fest. This event, presented by the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association (HKFDA) and supported by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA), aimed to reinforce Hong Kong's status as a global center for haute couture. The museum's interior was reimagined with four distinct architectural archways, representing diverse styles from traditional Chinese courtyards to neoclassical and Franco-Vietnamese aesthetics, creating an immersive cross-cultural stage.

The showcase featured 40 meticulously crafted, bespoke looks from four couture houses: Guillermo Décimo from Spain, Phan Huy from Vietnam, and two Hong Kong-based labels, Tigerstrolling Artisanal and Vivian Luk Atelier. These collections were presented on an international runway, with looks worn by supermodel Christina Chung and a diverse ensemble of models. The event attracted a notable audience of international fashion figures, industry leaders, and local celebrities, including Louise Wong, Susie Lau, Irene Kim, and Hanan Besovic, underscoring its significance within the fashion calendar.

Guillermo Décimo, the Spanish designer led by Guillermo Díez López, presented hand-crafted creations that emphasized theatricality, heritage, and the principles of slow fashion. López's background includes refining his techniques at the Museo Balenciaga, contributing to his artistic vision. Vietnam's Phan Huy, recognized as the youngest Vietnamese designer to be featured on the official Paris Haute Couture Week calendar, displayed intricate craftsmanship involving silk weaving, traditional hand-embroidery, and contemporary 3D draping techniques. His inclusion highlights the growing international recognition of Vietnamese fashion talent.

From Hong Kong, Tigerstrolling Artisanal, established in 2025 by siblings Tiger Chung (Chung Tsz-ho and Chung Ka-ching), offered a collection characterized by deconstructed tailoring and unconventional proportions. This approach reflects a modern interpretation of couture, pushing boundaries in silhouette and form. Vivian Luk Atelier, another Hong Kong-based label, also contributed to the diverse lineup, presenting its unique vision of contemporary haute couture. The collective presentation of these designers aimed to highlight the breadth of talent and innovation within the global couture landscape, with a particular focus on elevating Hong Kong's role in this exclusive fashion sector.
