FDA Recalls Halloween Candy for Undeclared Milk Allergen

Consumers could purchase this candy at four major retail chains: Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Homegoods, and Sierra Trading Post. The recall was initiated after a TJX analyst, responsible for monitoring inventory and distribution data, discovered that the chocolatey eyeballs contained whey, a milk product. This discovery was made when the candy was found to be distributed in packaging that lacked the required milk labeling. This finding triggered an investigation which revealed a "temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging processes." The specific products subject to this recall include Crystal Temptations Chocolatey Eyeballs in various packaging sizes: 7 oz., 10 oz., 10.5 oz., 11 oz., and 16 oz. The recalled items are identified by specific product names and packaging descriptions. For instance, "Chocolatey Eyeballs" in a "Crystal Temptations" plastic bag with a designed header card, style number 54040-CHEY, and a 10 oz. size are affected. Another affected product is "Chocolatey Eyeballs" in a "Crystal Temptations" acrylic box with a designed paper wrap, style number 54077-CHEY, in a 7 oz. size. Additionally, "Chocolatey Eyeballs" presented in a "Crystal Temptations" round plastic jar, style number 58008-CHEY, with a 10.5 oz. size, and "Chocolatey Eyeballs" in a "Crystal Temptations" designer plastic pouch bag, style number 58089-CHEY, weighing 16 oz., are also part of this recall. It is important to note that no other Crystal Temptations products or varieties are impacted by this recall. The FDA strongly advises consumers who have purchased these specific Chocolatey Eyeballs to destroy the product immediately to prevent accidental consumption by individuals with milk allergies.
