Grupo Mórbido Boards Two Genre Films at CRMM

Grupo Mórbido founder and CEO Pablo Guisa has boarded two film projects as a producer at the Costa Rica Media Market (CRMM). This move signifies a strong endorsement for the market's resurgence as a hub for genre filmmaking. The two selected projects are "Greetings from Maryland" ("Saludos desde Maryland"), directed by Ricardo B’atz’ from El Salvador, and "What Lives in the Storm" ("Lo que trae la tormenta"), helmed by an unnamed director.

Guisa’s involvement highlights Grupo Mórbido’s continued commitment to supporting and developing genre cinema. The company, known for its extensive work in horror and genre film distribution and production, aims to bring these two distinct narratives to a wider audience. The Costa Rica Media Market, which has seen a revival in recent years, provides a platform for Latin American filmmakers to connect with international producers and distributors.

In addition to his producing roles, Guisa also announced the launch of the Blood Bank Initiative, a new program by Grupo Mórbido. This initiative is designed to foster collaboration and support within the genre filmmaking community, though specific details regarding its operational scope and funding were not immediately available. The CRMM, held from March 12-14, 2024, attracted a diverse range of industry professionals focused on genre content.
