Gkids, a subsidiary of Toho, has acquired the exclusive distribution rights for the entire 23-film library of Japan's renowned Studio Ghibli in the United Kingdom and Ireland. This significant deal encompasses theatrical, home video, and television distribution for the beloved animated classics.

The acquisition includes iconic films such as "Spirited Away," "Howl's Moving Castle," "The Tale of The Princess Kaguya," "The Wind Rises," "Princess Mononoke," "My Neighbor Totoro," "Ponyo," and "Castle in the Sky." Gkids plans to leverage these rights to reintroduce these films to audiences through various platforms.

As part of the announcement, Gkids revealed that "Kiki's Delivery Service" will be the first Studio Ghibli film to be re-released in IMAX format in the UK and Ireland. This initiative aims to provide a premium cinematic experience for these timeless animated features, allowing new generations to discover them on the big screen and offering long-time fans a chance to revisit them in an enhanced format.
