Genesis Debuts GV90 Electric SUV with Four-Seat Neolum Variant

Genesis has officially debuted the GV90, its new electric flagship SUV, which builds upon the design language introduced by the Neolum concept vehicle. The production GV90 aims to capture the luxury electric SUV market, offering a blend of sophisticated design and advanced technology. The Neolum concept, initially showcased a couple of years prior, featured a distinctive four-seat interior with a pillarless design, swiveling front seats, and a premium material mix including leather, wool, and wood. The production GV90 appears to have successfully translated these elements into a road-ready vehicle.

The GV90 is built on the 800 V E-GMP platform, a scalable architecture shared with other large electric SUVs from Hyundai and Kia, specifically the Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Kia EV9. This platform is designed to support robust electric vehicle performance and charging capabilities. While a standard three-row, seven-seat configuration of the GV90 is planned and is expected to be the most common variant, Genesis is initially focusing its launch efforts on two distinct models: the four-seat GV90 and the high-end GV90 Neolum. The GV90 Neolum variant closely mirrors the original concept, notably incorporating the pillarless coach doors, which Genesis refers to as the "Neolum Arch Gate." This design choice significantly enhances the vehicle's dramatic visual appeal and provides an unobstructed entry and exit to the cabin.

Genesis has previously indicated its commitment to engineering such distinctive features while meeting stringent safety requirements for volume production. The GV90 Neolum's interior retains the luxurious feel of the concept, including the distinctive wood flooring. For the launch, Genesis is highlighting specific "First Edition" interiors for the GV90 Neolum, emphasizing the premium appointments. Safety is a paramount concern for the GV90, with the vehicle equipped with an array of safety innovations. A standout feature is the world's first roof airbag, designed to deploy specifically in the event of a rollover. This is part of a comprehensive safety system that includes a total of 12 airbags strategically placed throughout the interior to protect occupants in various collision scenarios. The integration of such advanced safety measures underscores Genesis's dedication to occupant protection in its flagship electric SUV.
