Fleet buys Tesla Semi electric trucks after stunning 1.55 kWh/mile efficiency

ArcBest announced its purchase of two Tesla Semi electric trucks on March 18, 2026, following a successful 2025 pilot program. The pilot, conducted by its ABF Freight division, achieved an average efficiency of 1.55 kWh per mile over 4,494 miles. This acquisition signifies a transition from testing to actual fleet integration for the less-than-truckload carrier. ArcBest is also broadening its evaluation of electric Class 8 trucks across a wider operational area.
