Lotus Unveils Emira 420 Sport, Its Most Hardcore Edition

Lotus has unveiled the Emira 420 Sport, positioning it as the most hardcore and performance-focused edition of its sleek sports coupe. This new variant builds upon the Emira's existing platform, which offers both a supercharged V6 and an inline-four cylinder turbo engine option. The 420 Sport distinguishes itself with significant upgrades aimed at enhancing track capability and driving dynamics.

The "Sport" designation is reserved by Lotus for its most capable and track-oriented vehicles, setting them apart from standard production models. Previous "Sport" iterations, such as the Lotus Esprit Sport 300 and the Lotus Exige Sport 350, demonstrated this philosophy by incorporating lightweight materials and refined components to create a more focused driving experience. The Exige Sport 350, for instance, featured intricate gearbox and aerodynamic enhancements to push its performance boundaries.

The Emira 420 Sport continues this lineage with a comprehensive overhaul of its aerodynamic package. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) was utilized to optimize downforce across the vehicle, with modifications to the front, sides, rear bumper, and rear spoiler. These aerodynamic improvements result in an additional 25kg of downforce without compromising the car's overall design or efficiency. The suspension system has also been specifically tuned for track performance, further enhancing the car's handling characteristics.
