Amex Opens First Centurion Lounge at Amsterdam Schiphol

American Express has opened its first Centurion Lounge at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS), marking the 33rd location in its global network of airport lounges. The new lounge, which officially opened its doors on September 17, is accessible to eligible American Express cardholders. This facility represents the first lounge at Amsterdam's airport to be integrated into a major credit card lounge network. The design of the 6,000-square-foot space draws significant inspiration from Dutch art, culture, and landscapes, featuring a color palette of blue, green, and earth tones that reflect the city's canals and waterways. Isabella Boccasino of The Points Guy attended a media preview ahead of the opening, providing an inside look at the amenities and design. The lounge is situated on the second level of the airport, located between the E and F concourses, and operates daily from 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Access policies for the Amsterdam Centurion Lounge mirror those of other Amex Centurion Lounges worldwide. Despite its 6,000-square-foot footprint, which makes it one of the smaller Centurion Lounges, comparable in size to the London location, the space is designed to maximize natural light through floor-to-ceiling windows. It offers a variety of seating arrangements, including armchairs, tables, booths, and group seating areas. However, the lounge does not provide expansive tarmac views from its windows. A dedicated 'phone nook' is available, though it is not a fully private room. The lounge features local artwork displayed throughout the space, with QR codes enabling guests to learn more about the featured artists and their work. A dedicated coffee bar is also a notable feature, aligning with a growing trend in lounge design. The lounge's amenities, while not as extensive as those in larger Centurion Lounges, are described as intentionally curated, reflecting a thoughtful approach to guest experience. The Points Guy's preview highlighted the lounge's commitment to incorporating local elements and providing a comfortable, sophisticated environment for travelers.
