Famed Philanthropist Glorya Kaufman’s Beverly Hills ‘Chateau’ Is Listed for $25 Million—1 Year After Her Death

Glorya Kaufman's Beverly Hills estate, known as Château de Liberté, has been listed for $25 million, less than a year after her death at age 95. Kaufman, a philanthropist and patron of the arts, purchased the property in 2012 for $18.2 million and renamed it to signify her independence. The proceeds from the sale will benefit the Glorya Kaufman Foundation, which supports performing arts programs. The Tuscan-style villa, built in 1989, spans 5,889 square feet on a 0.86-acre lot and features seven fireplaces, a grand living room with high ceilings and skylights, and French doors opening to an outdoor area with a pool and spa. The estate was designed to accommodate both intimate gatherings and large-scale entertainment, reflecting Kaufman's passion for socializing and the arts. Kaufman, who was raised in Detroit, lived in the estate for over a decade before her passing.
