The Atlantic announced Joshua Partlow, Ariel Sabar, and Sebastian Smee as new staff writers on October 26, 2023. Partlow, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, previously served as a foreign correspondent for The Washington Post, covering conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan and reporting from Latin America for over a decade. Sabar, also a recipient of the National Magazine Award, is known for his investigative journalism and has written for The Atlantic, The New York Times Magazine, and Wired. His work often delves into complex cultural and historical narratives. Smee, an art critic and Pulitzer Prize winner, joins from The Boston Globe, where he was the chief art critic. He has authored several books on art history and criticism, including "The Art of Rivalry."
